Executive Vice President of ASU Health
Dr. Gabriel leads the ASU Health team, drawing on extensive experience in health care and academic medicine. A physician-scientist, Gabriel previously served as dean of the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, dean of the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey and president of Rush University in Chicago, an academic medical center that includes colleges of medicine, nursing and health sciences and graduate college. She is a member of the National Academy of Medicine.
Vice President, Operations and Integration
Bautista Young leads key ASU Health initiatives, advancing coordination and integration of health-related work cross ASU. She has more than two decades of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining ASU Health, she held various health care leadership positions at Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic.
Vice President, Strategy and Business Development
Schwartz leads the ASU Health effort for clinical partnerships, ASU Clinics, health entrepreneurship and innovation. He brings more than two decades of leadership experience in health strategy, venture and corporate development. Previously, he led strategy and business development at Mayo Clinic in Arizona and has consulted with startup, growth-stage and industry-leading companies on health innovation initiatives.
Vice President, Innovation
Burd serves as vice president for innovation across ASU Health, providing strategic leadership to advance innovation in health education, research and academic partnerships. As a senior academic leader and executive, Burd has led large-scale initiatives that drive institutional transformation. His work focuses on shaping innovation strategy, leading implementation and scaling academic and solutions-based programs that address complex challenges in education, health and society on a global scale.
Director, Humanities Integration
Dr. Cora Fox leads the integration of humanities across ASU Health, developing initiatives that bring humanities-based approaches to complex health and health care challenges. Fox also serves as associate dean of health humanities at the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering and is an associate professor of English. She is developing the Health Humanities Commons at ASU, an interdisciplinary hub for scholarship, curriculum and community projects supporting health professions education, and leads the Shufeldt School’s integrated health humanities curriculum. Her scholarship explores early modern literature and culture, with a focus on the histories of emotion, health and care.
Executive Director, Health Pathways
Kingsbury serves as executive director of the Health Pathways program in ASU Health. He provides strategic leadership to expand access to health education and support students as they pursue careers as health care providers. A longtime academic leader in health education, Kingsbury brings a deep understanding of the challenges learners face and the strategies and support that can help them succeed. Before joining ASU Health, he served as a teaching professor and associate dean at ASU and held leadership roles in state and national organizations dedicated to improving health education. He is a member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society and the American Medical Association.
Associate Dean, Interprofessional Education and Community Engagement
Dr. Kristen Will leads interprofessional and experiential initiatives across ASU Health, including the Collaborative for Interprofessional and Experiential Learning. Her work focuses on preparing current and future health professionals to integrate team-based care and health systems science to improve health outcomes. Will also serves as associate dean for interprofessional education and community engagement at the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering and holds faculty appointments in the Shufeldt School and College of Health Solutions. A physician associate with more than 30 years of experience, Will has practiced in hospital medicine, cardiovascular surgery and primary care.
Executive Director of Development, ASU Health
Nieri serves as executive director of development, overseeing fundraising for ASU Health, including the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering and the School of Technology for Public Health. She also leads a team of fundraisers dedicated to the College of Health Solutions, the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation and the Biodesign Institute. Together, the team raises philanthropic support to advance the health and well-being of communities in Arizona and around the world.
Executive Director, Finance and Business Operations
Miller leads finance and business operations for ASU Health, building the financial and administrative infrastructure to support its growth and strategic priorities. A CPA with 19 years of higher education experience, she previously served as associate vice president of finance at California State University, Monterey Bay, and held leadership roles at ASU’s College of Health Solutions. Miller focuses on translating strategic priorities into action, shaping financial strategy and providing insights that support organizational growth and transformation.
